Mel writes: “As of Friday afternoon, Courts 1 to 4 are complete and are again bookable on the system. Courts 5 and 6 have had a deep clean… …which, because of the moss and silt, have taken more time than we hoped. How ever, that is now complete. Next week, weather permitting, these courts will be painted and, therefore, not bookable until Saturday, 5th May.”
“It’s been a bit of a juggling act with matches v court painting and thanks go to the Team Captains for their co-operation.
“Courts 5 and 6 have suffered a great deal of vandalism over the last few months which is worrying as summer has barely started. Nets have had to be been replaced, graffiti will be painted over and the serious damage to netting on Court 5 will need to be attended to by us.
“If everybody can keep an eye on these courts, it would be appreciated.
“The overhanging trees and foliage issue has been addressed after an on-site meeting with the Council’s Head of Parks and Gardens Rob Walker, the Tree Preservation Officer Neil Brothers, and our tree surgeon. Additionally, the area between the clubhouse and East Drive, which is dumping ground for needles etc, is now under our control.
“As Phase 1 of the clubhouse conversion, you may have noticed the toilets now have heaters, hand dryers and hot water. The remaining work on this phase begins on Tuesday, 8th May.
“CCTV is being installed and hopefully this will help with our security and deter vandalism.”
