A new defibrillator has been installed at Queens Park Tennis Club. This state-of-the-art unit was jointly funded by QPTC and The Friends of Queens Park.
A defibrillator gives a high energy electric shock to the heart of someone who is in cardiac arrest. This high energy shock is called defibrillation, and it’s an essential part in trying to save the life of someone who’s in cardiac arrest.
“This device is easy to use, and it saves lives,” say the QPTC Directors.
The QPTC defib will use a locked code access system. The unit itself costs over £800. The access code will be displayed on the notice board in the Clubhouse.
Jerome is the liaison between QPTC and the Friends and helped steer the project through. Members of the public who call the 999 service will be given a code to gain access to the unit.
Members of the Club and Friends of Queens Park were trained in the use of the jointly funded defib unit. .Senior Paramedic Kate Moorman and Doctor Katie Buchanan took the session which was extremely well attended.
