RESULTS from LTA boys tournament at Queens Park Tennis Club yesterday:

This LTA Grade 4 U14s Juniors singles competition, for eight players, was won by Pavlo Hrytskiv, 11, who defeated Jacob Turner, 13, from Pavilion & Avenue Lawn Tennis Club 4-3, 4-0 in the final.

‘Pasha’ Pavlo Hrytskiv, 11, came to the UK from Kyiv, Ukraine, in April, and is a junior member at Queens Park Tennis Club. Pasha trains with Jack Palmer at Training Base in Falmer, and won his first G4 LTA tournament the previous weekend.

LTA Grade 4 tournaments are for players of county standard. However, tournaments at this grade might accept good club standard players too. Grade 4 events count towards a player’s national ranking as well as their World Tennis Number (and Universal Tennis Rating where appropriate).

The boys played an eight player compass tournament, using Fast4 scoring.

1. First to four games wins the set
2. Tiebreaker at 3 games all (3-3)
3. Match tie-break at 1 set all (7pt tie breaker)
4. No ad scoring. If it’s 40-40, next point wins
