Our loyal player, team captain, club secretary and club director Alan Sanchez is leaving us to return home to Spain.
Alan has been a keen Parks League participant for most of 20 years, and has been an outstanding servant to QPTC. Alan captained Queens B to the 2022 Division 2 title. He’s leaving 18 February, and departs with the warmest respect and appreciation from all his many tennis friends in Brighton & Hove.
QPTC directors write: “Alan has continued to make an immense contribution to the life and the administration of the tennis club over many years.
From high order functions such as reporting our annual accounts and financial affairs through to welcoming new members and answering a myriad of member questions, Alan has always given huge amounts of time, energy and enthusiasm to all of us at the club.
Often found – quite literally(!) – down amongst the weeds, Alan has guided and supported the
maintenance and redevelopment works to improve the club estate over many years. More recently,
as our pavilion facilitates have improved, Alan has facilitated bookings for the use of the pavilion by
members and by outside guest alike.
It is hard for us to envisage Queens Park Tennis Club without Alan’s guiding and supportive hand
being ever present to help us move forward in the best manner possible. We will all miss Alan
immensely.
In the short term, Alan has very kindly agreed to continue in his role administering membership
renewals etc. on an interim basis and this will offer some time for us to consider how we will ensure
that we are able to provide the support given to us by Alan is delivered as we move forward on a
more permanent basis. We will of course update all members about this in the near future, as soon
as we are in a position to do so.
For now though, are thoughts are firmly focused upon thanking Alan for his huge contribution to the
life and development of Queens Park Tennis Club over many years – quite literally, we would not be
the club we are now without Alan’s commitment, fortitude and energetic support for us all.
– Many thanks Alan.
