Charlie Baines is standing down from his role as club chairman. Charlie has served our club as a team-mate, team captain, quiz master, performer, volunteer, prize giver and chairman over the last decade.
A committed competitive player for twenty years, he is one of the best volleyers at the club, and his long and distinguished playing career (by no means over) has been carved into our QPTC silverware forever. These include three Men’s Doubles club titles, and several Parks League shields over the years.
“I’ve never won the Queens’ Mixed, despite my best efforts over many years. I reached the men’s final once, but lost to Jack Bond.”
The club directors’ statement: “We would like to thank Charlie for his significant contribution to Queens Park Tennis Club, particularly over the last eight years as we have gone from council operated tennis venue to becoming a fully-operational, LTA-registered Community Interest Company. Our club has enjoyed the benefit of Charlie’s commitment and enthusiasm over many years, and we look forward to his continued participation in all club activities in the future.”
Thank you Charlie, and see you on court!
