Congratulations Jimmy Smith on winning the Tennis Opened Up prize at the LTA Tennis Sussex Awards ceremony at the American Express Community Stadium, Brighton, last night.
This award is a recognition of Jimmy’s work over many years in the area of disability tennis.
Jimmy explains: “Amazeballs Inclusive Junior Tennis classes have been running at Queens Park Tennis Club for over five years. We’ve partnered with Amaze Sussex to help drive participation and promotion for these popular weekly sessions on Saturdays 12-1pm.”
“The enduring popularity of Jimmy’s Amazeballs group every Saturday does him great credit. It has improved the lives of local children and parents, and it has enabled several young tennis coaches to appreciate the fun and value of tennis coaching for players of all abilities and standards”, says Conrad Brunner, former director of QPTC.
Jimmy, who won the LTA National Development Coach Of The Year in 2022, is assisted most weekends by Gabriel, Tom, Noah, Billy, and Oliver with contributions over the years from Jojo, Alice, Leah, Isaac and Dylan, among others.
Tennis Sussex is responsible for the administration and promotion of tennis throughout East and West Sussex. Find out more here.
